CHAPTER XXIII:  INVASION!

With the Whill Fleet almost utterly destroyed, the defense of Elysia and its capital Jeranu now became the first priority of the war.

Inside the War Room beneath the Palace of Light Imperator Davon was in a state of shock. His Fleet of Light was obliterated with only one Ring Ship left to deter one Sith Destroyer as hundreds of bulk carriers escorted by Black Raven star fighters and Gretches headed for the atmosphere above the planet.

The Sith were so intent on landing that they by-passed the orbiting  planetary sensor stations, the frightened Whills onboard them gathering to watch at every view port the Sith black plague descending upon their crystal paradise world. Max-Titor had ordered it so. “Leave the sensor stations alone, I want the last Whills alive to witness the destruction of their world.” Yet, the Black Raven pilots roared past each station with elation as the following heavy bulk carriers slowly descended- their bridge crews and gunners watching the pathetic Whills do nothing- except weep.

Queen Serapha now turned to Imperator Bevins and asked for a military assessment of the situation. “Not good My Queen,” Bevins answered, sweat pouring from his forehead as he studied the Tactical Holomorphic Display Grid. “Over five hundred bulk carriers are coming through the atmosphere with a hundred Raven star ships and just under fifty Gretches. Our heavy Aerial Turbo-Repulsers are all here in the capital, mainly in fixed positions. Those portable cannot make it to the Valley in time, so I have ordered them kept here. The Commanders in the field report that most of the VFG guns are on stand-by and powering up for attack while five lines of Mechquin, 300 deep are formed up awaiting orders. The Ball Rovers are forward of the Gold Army- all 2,500 of them on stand-by. Gold Army is right behind them with 100,000 troops prepared for combat. A further 500 Amber Commandos are on station at Garvin Heights on the northern approach and will be the first to witness any break-through towards the capital.”

“And what of the capital defenses?” demanded the Queen. Bevins seemed more confident about that, “ My Queen there are 100,000 Red Army troops here plus nearly 500 Amber Commandos scattered at strategic installations. The Aerial Turbo-Repulser aerial cannons are charged and ready to fire in case any light attacks are made by the Ravens. All remaining 1,000 Mechquin and Ball Rovers are equally deployed in rings around the capital with the highest concentration right within the city’s core. But the Sith will attempt no landings here, so we are completely safe until a break-out occurs.”

In the Jez’aral Valley Gold Army commanders watched astonished at the speed with which the heavy bulk carriers were landing and disgorging their cargos of wheeled transports, observers, ground crawlers and… they couldn’t believe it… hursas and death hounds!!! These were followed by thousands upon thousands of armed Kyries. Above them circling and patrolling were the Ravens and floating attack probe Gretches. No action had been initiated by either side as the Lectrovision displays were now being coordinated, transmitted, and forwarded to the War Room where the Tactical Holomorphic Display Grid quickly presented a glowing picture of the “Black Army” that were the Sith. The Queen and Imperators found the display disturbing.
Why haven’t the Ravens and Gretches attacked our forces in the Valley yet? What were these cursed Sith doing?

In the Valley, the landings were “coming along well” thought Warlord Max- Stalker, Supreme Ground Commander of all Sith forces. He was one of the first to land in the heavily armed assault carrier Death Hand. Peering through his own Lectrovision device the Warlord had detected the Whill Gold Army forward of his position to the south.  He estimated their troop concentration at around 100,000 maximum, 75,000 minimum. Once our forces are fully assembled we will make our march to victory through this Valley with a great display of firepower and fighting skill. The weak Whills will fall easily. Like squashing bugs, really.
