CHAPTER XIX: PIERCING THE DARKNESS

Onboard the Sun-Ray Class lead Ring Ship RS Majesta Captain Shar Neuva was monitoring the approaching Dark Cloud from a distance. Behind him on both flanks were RS Light Burst and RS Victorya. All three starships had shield projectors running on moderate power with an automatic response raising system locked into war priority setting two. War priority setting one was the main weapons grid which was also on stand-by for power-up.

Each 900 foot long Ring Ship carried one hundred sixty photon discharger cannon on its four outer defense rings, 40 per ring with the fore and aft rings firing one forward and one aft while the inner two reversible rings fired port and starboard. This created a blistering defense in all directions and acted as a huge photon cutting saw as the rings rotated around the ship. The mighty Sun-Rays also had light projection Magna-flectors that acted as aural camouflage in addition to protomag wave benders that distorted hostile scans.

All three ships were actively probing the cloud, but its density was immense. Behind them, all two hundred Blue Diamond Mk.I star fighters followed in attack groups forming a wide frontal arc. All weapons systems were online and prepared to fire. The faceted ships, covered in layered Admantium hyper-plating, were like the burning embers of a blue fire in the darkness of space, their blue Deutorium ion plasma thrusters glowing at sub-light speed.

The Sun-Ray thrusters burned like mini white suns, the new SEM engines operating off  new Sulurium powder reactors that intermixed with stored photon light pre-fed to the core through powerful solar space collectors above Elysia. Once activated, the sustaining core burned with the power of a white sun and its thrust produced massive light streams at speed. The Blue Diamonds, therefore, remained a safe distance away from the heavy warships as the cloud was about to be breached. The Diamond pilots activated their glare visors as RS Majesta pulled forward and activated her aural camouflage and wave benders.

Captain Neuva ordered the ship secured for battle as alarms sounded, “All crew man your stations, contact with the Dark Cloud in seconds. Raise all shields and train all forward dischargers at the heart of that object”.

The battle between Light and Darkness was about to begin.

“Stand by to engage whatever lies behind that cloud”, Neuva ordered in complete confidence. RS Light Burst and RS Victorya remained at her flanks, powering up for action as well while all the Blue Diamonds moved in closer, preparing for their first space combat.

The Sith, however, had anticipated this and now all three Gehenna-Class Destroyers formed a line, three abreast ready to lock onto the rumored Whill Ring Ships with all firepower concentrated on the first one to break through.

Onboard Fallen Star, Night Strike, and Black Dawn Sith Supreme Commanders led by Max- Stranglar of Fallen Star charged up their mix of C, T , and now M-Packs- the Mega-pulsers. Each destroyer was equipped with  100 guns for a total firepower of 300 guns trained on the luminous object approaching the Dark Matter Shadow. The Shadow reminded the Siths of the death storms of their hostile world where Sith fog and lightning killed millions each year. Only this year the fog and lightning of Sith warfare would kill millions of Whills.
